Knabe Grand Pianos for sale
Started in 1837 by the merger of William Knabe and Henry Gaehle, Wm. Knabe & Co. carries with it a rich depth of experience and love for the art of piano making. William was so successful in his first 15 years that he was able to purchase the company outright in 1854 giving it its current name. Before immigrating to America, Wilhelm as he was then known, spent his entire young adult life in the apprenticeship of established piano makers. This experience was carried over into his own company. Some of Knabe’s milestones include being the first piano played in the opening of Carnegie hall by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky himself, as well as being noted as the first piano placed in the White House’s current location by the president of the time Rutherford B. Hayes. Currently Wm. Knabe pianos are the premier line of pianos from the world’s largest manufacturer Samick Musical Instruments, Ltd.
Craftsmanship is of the utmost importance to Wm. Knabe & Co. From the Canadian spruce soundboards to the oak and maple rims, no cost is too great in the quest for supreme quality of sound. German, Renner hardware is used to complete these masterpieces and each one is unique in its handmade feel. Unlike other pianos of similar caliber, Knabe pianos are larger in proportion to their length. They are also uniquely fully finished on every service. Regardless of whether you are hearing them or viewing them inside and out, perfection will always be the result. For this reason Wm. Knabe still remains one of the most widely used pianos in the world's most finest music halls, classrooms and conservatories around the world.
