Hazelton Grand Pianos for sale
Hazelton Bros. was founded in 1850 by Frederick, John and Henry Hazelton. The company was originally called F & H Hazelton, but changed once John came on board. The company was based in New York. Henry had spent his early life as an apprentice to Dubois and Stodart where he learned every aspect of piano making as a true art form. In 1957 the name was bought by Kohler and Campbell and was eventually absorbed by Samick Musical Instruments in 2003.
Hazelton pianos enjoyed great success in their heyday as one of the few pianos to implement a full cast iron frame. They were both durable yet eloquent. The most progressive builders of the time the Hazelton manufacturers were always striving to improve the stringing scales, case and action design. With the cast iron frame, Hazelton was able to experiment with other soft woods such as mahogany. Unfortunately with the fall of Kohler and the eventual purchase by Samick, all that remains of the name are a few sparse models which are sold on antique markets and auctions. If you're lucky you might find one and in good condition too.
